LOSING FORESTS – A THING TO PONDER!!!!!!

This article is for those who think seriously for the mother Earth. No kidding, very soon our planet may get devoid of forests, which mean NO HUMAN, NO LIFE on Earth. Photographs taken by remote sensing satellites clearly reveal this fact.

At present the forests cover 4,150 million hectares in this world. And the fact for concern is that about 0.9 per cent of this cover is disappearing every year. Horrible isn't it? Asia, which houses 60 per cent of the human population, has just 13.7 per cent of total forest cover. As a matter of fact, last 50 years have seen more than 1,200 million hectares of tropical rain forest vanishing due to forest fires. Studies reveal that nearly 175 million acres (1acre=0.407 hectare) of forests and grasslands are lost every year due to fire. Over two-third of Earth's original rain forests have been lost. It is estimated that 80 acres of rain forest disappear every minute.

Now the question arrives what can we do save the most beautiful planet form a visible havoc. The answer is very simple to tell, but difficult to implement:

  1. Plant trees whenever you find time.
  2. Make association with your friends, which will generate awareness among youths.
  3. Do not waste papers and as far as possible use recycled papers.
  4. Most importantly, develop love for forest and mother Earth.

Unless governments and big corporations take an interest in preserving our environment it will be difficult, if not impossible, to make any progress at all. My thumb is up!

Recently I planted a tree. I always take care of my garden. Let's pledge to do at least the minimum for our Mother Earth.
